It’s that time of year again!

Each year, more than 1,000 community members come together to decorate the lampposts throughout the Village of Babylon, transforming our community for the holiday season.

Advance sign-up and a $45 donation are required. The Babylon Beautification Society provides all decorations, including tree roping, lights, a hanging tag, and a bow. Participants must bring their own ladder and a marker to add their family’s or team’s name and holiday wishes to the tag.

Decorating will take place Sunday, November 29, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Materials must be picked up between 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. from your captain’s designated location.

It takes approximately 30 minutes to decorate one lamppost.

This event takes place rain or shine.

Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before signing up.

Lamppost assignments are made by the Babylon Beautification Society and its designated section captains. You are not guaranteed a particular lamppost, street, area or location.
Assignment decisions may consider the date a completed submission is received, requested location, availability, logistics, groupings and other operational factors. No single factor guarantees an assignment.
Village of Babylon residents and non-residents are subject to the same assignment process. Residency does not provide priority or preference.
Prior participation does not guarantee the same lamppost or location. Everyone must sign up each year, and prior-year assignments are not carried forward.
You may request a location, but requests are not guaranteed. Please provide the street, side of the street, nearest cross street or address, and a second-choice location. Do not state “same lamppost as last year” or refer to a prior-year assignment. Prior-year assignments are not referenced when making current-year assignments; you must provide complete location information with your request.
If you want to decorate near family or friends, everyone must submit a separate request. We recommend submitting the requests at approximately the same time and requesting the same area. We cannot guarantee that participants will be assigned together.
Do not sign up unless you are willing to accept any lamppost assigned to you.
Each participant must submit a request using their own name and email address. If submitting more than one request for different participants, a different name and email address must be used for each participant. For each individual request, the same email address must be used on both the request and donation forms and for all correspondence.
After completing the request form, you will be directed to submit the required $45 donation. Your submission is not complete until the donation is successfully processed. A PayPal account is not required; you can select the credit card option.
After submitting your donation, you should immediately receive a PayPal receipt and an email from the Babylon Beautification Society confirming receipt of your request. Check your spam or junk folder and contact us promptly if you do not receive both. The Babylon Beautification Society is not responsible for submissions that are not received.
After November 10, participants will receive an email requesting confirmation of participation. You must respond to remain eligible for an assignment. You will also receive information regarding your section captain, meeting time, location and assigned section.
Your exact lamppost will not be provided in advance. Your section captain will provide your assigned lamppost when you pick up your decorating materials on the morning of the event.
Lampposts may only be decorated on Sunday, November 29, 2026, between 10:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Materials may not be picked up before 10:30 a.m.
Only decorations supplied by the Babylon Beautification Society may be placed on the lamppost. Additional decorations are not permitted and will be removed.
This event takes place rain or shine.
The Babylon Beautification Society is not responsible for malfunctioning lamppost bulbs, electrical outlets or other Village-owned equipment. Lamppost maintenance is the responsibility of the Village of Babylon. Problems should be reported directly to the Village.
Donations are non-refundable and cannot be transferred or applied to another Babylon Beautification Society event.
Lamppost requests, assignment requests and requests for assignment changes will not be accepted by email outside of the process outlined above.

By submitting a request, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these Terms & Conditions, understand that a requested or previously assigned lamppost or location is not guaranteed, and agree to accept the assignment made by the Babylon Beautification Society and its designated event captains.
