It’s that time of year again!

We are excited to welcome volunteers again for our annual Holiday Lamppost Decorating event.

Over 1,000 volunteers decorate the lampposts throughout Babylon Village, and within a few hours, the village is transformed into a holiday wonderland.

Advanced sign-up is required, along with a $35 donation.  The Babylon Beautification Society provides all the decorations (tree roping, lights, bow), and volunteers bring their ladders and holiday spirit.

Decorating will occur on Sunday, November 30, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

You must pick up your materials from 10:30 am to 11:00 am and decorate your lamppost before 3:00 pm.
All materials are provided; you need to bring a ladder.

Note: it takes approximately 30 minutes to decorate one lamppost.

This event occurs as planned, rain or shine.

Advance sign-up is required yearly, even if you signed up and decorated a lamppost in a prior year.

Note: you must sign-up using the web form below.  There are over 525+ lampposts, and we will fill up quickly.

Lamppost Decorating Instructions

Please read carefully before signing up!

  1. Any Pole, Any Place
    Only sign up if you’re open to being assigned any lamppost in the Village. We can’t guarantee specific spots.

  2. How to Sign Up

    • Fill out the request form (click the red button below).

    • You’ll then be directed to PayPal. A $35 donation is required—credit cards accepted, no PayPal account needed.

    • Use the same email address for both the form and PayPal.

  3. Check Your Email!
    You should get:

    • A PayPal receipt (from service@paypal.com)

    • A confirmation from BBS
      Didn’t get one? Check your spam/junk folders and contact us if still missing.

  4. Signing Up with Friends or Family?
    Each person must submit their own form, using a different name and email.

  5. Location Requests
    Want a specific spot? Be clear:

    • Include the street name, side (east/west/north/south), and nearby business or cross street.

    • Don’t say “same as last year.”

    • List a second choice in case your first isn’t available.

  6. Want to Be Near Others?
    Sign up at the same time and request the same area. We do not cross-reference signups, so coordination is key.

  7. Assignment Process
    Posts are assigned based on when requests are received and space available—not on past locations or who you want to be near. We try our best, but not all requests can be granted.

  8. Confirmation & Event Info
    After November 1, you’ll get an email confirming your spot and listing:

    • Your team captain

    • Meeting time

    • General area (you’ll learn your exact pole on event day)

    You must reply to confirm. No response = no pole.

  9. Event Details

    • Decorating is Sunday, November 30, 2025, from 10:30 AM–3:00 PM.

    • Please finish by 1:00 PM if possible.

    • No early pickups allowed.

    • Rain or shine—dress accordingly!

  10. Keep It Uniform
    Please don’t add your own decorations. Everything you need will be provided. Anything extra will be removed.

  11. Lights Not Working?
    We’re not responsible for broken lights or outlets. Contact Mayor Adams’ office at 631‑669‑1212 for issues.

  12. No Refunds
    Donations are non-refundable and can’t be applied to other BBS events.

  13. We do not accept requests by email.

We recognize the importance of family traditions and do our best to accommodate all requests but we can’t always grant them.  Please remember this event is about community and volunteerism, not the location of a lamppost.
